Ever since I was a little kid I've loved looking at my mom and grandma making dinner. When 3 years ago from Italy (where I am from) I moved to China I've noticed that not many ppl know how to cook a proper meal. Therefore my idea to create a simple cooking blog with step-by-step pics to pass on my love and passion. However since it is my first time blogging, would you guys mind check it out and let me know what you think. Any suggestions and advice are welcome.
Thanks

Answer on I have a little cooking blog, can u guys check it out and let me know what you think?
I had a look at your blog.The blog looks good and you've included some procedure images too. But there're are somethings I felt are missing:
1) although the final product, looks quite delicious, the pics of the ingredients at different stages of preparation, look bland. A cooking blog, like a home decor blog, gains a lot from presentation. So try to add some details and present the ingredients in a way which looks aesthetically good.
2) A blog like yours, can easily incorporate videos. So try adding videos too. Try to add a video to every post. One good way is to upload the video at Youtube.com and add the youtube video at your blog. This way you can earn from Youtube traffic as well.
Some people say, they don't care about traffic. And i think that is a wrong attitude. If you are passionate about your blog and your ideas, then why not give then the exposure they deserve.
So creating a blog is not enough, a blog needs to be promoted as well. A blog like yours can achieve this objective, initially, by the use of traffic exchangers. For more info on TEs, check the source url.
Best of luck, may you have great success with your blog.
Thanks

Best route train in Italy Rome, Cinque de Terre, Margherita Liguarie, Venice, Capri (itinerary)?
I am flying to Rome in Jan 2010. Which is the better airport FCO or ROM? I hope to see Rome, Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita Liguaria, Venice and possibly Capri. Could anyone help me with what order to see them in and best transport from-to each. I would like to go by train when possible unless anyone has cheaper or better suggestions. I am definitely trying to save money but also eliminate stress so trying to choose the cheapest but most comfortable and easy travel plan...I have never been to Italy. Thanks for any help! Any extra tips on destinations or transport or lodging would be much appreciated.
Answer on Best route train in Italy Rome, Cinque de Terre, Margherita Liguarie, Venice, Capri (itinerary)?
Are you planning on both arriving and departing from Rome? It may be more convenient for you to arrive in Rome and depart from Venice to cut down on backtracking. That would make a difference on the options for doing this trip though.
Assuming you're both starting & leaving from Rome. Fiumicino has the Leonardo Express train from the airport to the Roma Termini station which is convenient. However, there really isn't that big a difference between arriving at the two airports if you get a much better price for a flight to Ciampino.
I think I would start by staying in Rome for a day or two. Since you're looking to save money, I would consider a night train to Venice to start. You can sleep in a berth on the train overnight and save on a hotel/hostel for the night.
There used to be a good night train option for getting to Cinque Terre from Venice too, but the night train from Venice to Nice is no longer running. Now, the best option is to take the train from Venice to Milan and change there to a train to Monterosso. While you're in the Cinque Terre area, it's about a 45 minute trip from Monterosso to Santa Margherita Ligure on the train. If you're trying to get to Portofino, there's a bus from the SML train station to Portofino.
From Monterosso, you can catch a train to Naples via La Spezia, or via Pisa and Rome. When you get to Naples catch a cab to Molo Beverello and take the boat to Capri. Return to Rome for a day or two before your flight out.
You could also just go back to Rome from Cinque Terre and do Capri as a day trip from there.

If you fly into Rome and out of Venice, you could go to Capri first. then head for Cinque Terre & Santa Margherita Ligure and then go on to Venice and not be in transit quite so long.

Will someone tell me what movie I'm thinking of please!!!???
first off: it's in italian. (foreign film)
basically, a little boy finds this other little boy in a hole in the ground in the middle of no where by an abandoned house who's clearly been mistreated, and he befriends him. Come to find out, it's his father that's been keeping the one kid hostage b/c they need the ransom money, and he's the son of someone in government or something. They're in Italy. and that's about all I really know. I haven't seen it in ages. but, as I recall it was actually a pretty good movie.

I'm Not Scared (2003)
aka Io non ho paura
IMDb review:
Nine-year-old Michele, exquisitely performed by first-time actor Giuseppe Cristiano, is outgoing, intelligent, and strong-willed. Michele and his friends play in the vast golden wheat fields during summer, and all seems idyllic. When Michele looks for a pair of glasses lost by his sister Maria (Giulia Matturo), he makes an unexpected discovery. Beneath a straw-covered plank in the ground he finds Filippo (Mattia Di Pierro), a frightened, dirty, and almost blind boy of his own age. The child, chained to a stake and barely alive, is subject to hallucinations and believes that he is dead and that Michele is his guardian angel. Instead of reporting his find to his overburdened mother (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon) or his moody working class father (Dino Abbrescia), he keeps the secret to himself, bringing bread and water to the starving boy, and the two develop a mystical bond of friendship.
When Michele finds out the shocking reason that Filippo is in the cave, he discovers the strength within himself to stand up for what he thinks is right even though it leaves him open to potentially damaging consequences.
"I'm Not Scared" does not idealize children and paint all adults as evil. The children can be ruthless in cruelly teasing the weakest members of their group and in selling out to the wrongdoers for trifles. The adults commit a heinous crime out of the desperation of poverty or for unstated political reasons, but their love for their own children is clear. Based on a novel by Niccolo Amminiti, "I'm Not Scared" is part suspense drama and part coming-of-age story but cannot be neatly categorized.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~…
I saw this movie once, and I didn't write down the title. I actually forgot about it since I watch so many films throughout the year~till I had a mental image one day of a child looking down into a hole at another child. Surprisingly, I found it much more quickly than I expected. I've been able to identify it for three people here at Y!A, including you!
Yes, it's a good film, and I very much want to see it again.
Where should I go in Italy?
Currently, I'm an Au Pair in Germany, so I don't have a lot of money. I'll fly, because it's cheaper and less time consuming. I probably won't have many days there (maybe 4 or 5). I just want to know the top recommended city. Sure, seeing all of the typical things would be fun (the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Coliseum, the Sistine Chapel,...), but I'm also a slight foodie. I'm really eager to go to Italy in August, when it's hot and sweaty, and get the full experience. I want to eat tons of pasta and pizza. I just need to figure out where I should go, and stay, and visit. Because I don't have a lot of money, I can't really afford to take really expensive cab rides, or some other transportation everywhere. I'd rather get familiar with an area, rather than jump around from place to place a lot. I'll also, more than likely, be going alone. Any suggestions are really appreciated!
Also, yes, I know. Going alone with be dangerous, and I really risk getting things stolen from me. That's why I'm content for now, not to visit some of the main attractions that I listed before.
Answer on Where should I go in Italy?
I'd go to Rome if I was you. Its big enough to keep you interested for days (I was there for 10 days and didn't see everything), but small enough not to get too lost. :) The nice thing is if you don't mind walking you can walk to 90% of what you want to see. If you stay in the center of Rome everything is within a mile in any direction. It will be hot though, wear light clothing. And the food.....oh, my. Make sure to eat outside at night next to the street. Perfect temperatures, and hey your in Rome! Have fun.
Would you vote for me?
I'm starting my own British political party, and want to canvas support. Im confident of winning at least 649 seats at the next general election. My Manifesto is-
1) Demand ?150 billion from France, Russia and Italy to settle unpaid world war one debts.
2) Expand the Armed Forces. Build 4,000 new warships, 23,074 new aircraft, 1,435 new tanks and 4,002 new artillery. Give the Gurkhas pet honeybadgers to increase battle effectiveness.
3) Offer a referendum on either abolishing income tax or waging war against France (why it was introduced in the first place)
4) Abolish the House of Commons, since politics is too important to be left in the hands of politicians
5) The Sovereign rules by decree
6) Since we went through the trouble of invading Iraq, demand 22 billion barrels of oil from them.
7) This will be used to cut taxes on the rich to 3.3%
8) Change the state religion to Thatcherism
9) Outlaw all other religions
10) Outlaw trade unions
11) Demand the EU renames itself the British Empire and submits to the will of London
12) Send all French people to a penal colony on the Falklands
What d'yall reckon? I personally shall be extremely disappointed if I don't win at least 500 seats
First time traveler to Europe, I need advice.?
I'm visiting Europe this summer with my family (2 adults, 4 children between ages 4 and 16). I'm not sure whether we should rent an RV and drive through Europe at our own pace, or buy a guided tour package (30 days) that is at a faster pace but includes hotel stays and transportation.
We are planning on visiting the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain and Switzerland. We have a span of 3 months to do all of this, if we rent an RV.
Any advice from past travelers to Europe? or from anyone who has travelled in an RV. I'm not sure how the bathroom situation would turn out, RV bathrooms have always looked a bit cramped to me.
Answer on First time traveler to Europe, I need advice.?
Advice is
limit the countries you wish to visit a bit more, and take a camping package.
You will find it difficult with a large family over that period of time in an RV.
Take a look at www.europcamp.com and hire something like a Ford galaxy
There are other companies that provide ready erected tents on some superb campsites.
I would leave greece out and instead think about Switzerland, France and Spain.
read up on places to visit
For Switzeralnd have a look at a campsite called camping Jungfrau at a place called Lauterbrunnen.( spectacular )
For france there is a reasonable campsite at a place called l'escalet near St tropez/cavalaire.
For Spain i would reccomend the Costa brava.
say around tossa de mar
Much though depends on where you wish to stay and what you wish to do.
History Proofreader for speech? (lots of reading?!?)?
World War I was a time of fear and death. Families were torn apart, soldiers were killed, and countries fought. The war took place in the years 1914 to 1918. Brave soldiers left. Some came home. However, many did not. There were stories of blood, gore, guns and how bad life was at the time of the war. It was a terrible time to have lived and no one would ever wish to relive it. Enormous amounts of fights had broken out world wide. Most of Europe was trashed and countries were ruined. There were numerous arguments over what triggered the war. Thousands of reasons were thought of. Many accusations were made. However, there were a few main causes that really did trigger the war. Ladies and Gentlemen, Fellow Classmates, and Honourable Judges; what were the main causes of the World War I?
Before we can speak of what the main causes of the Great War were, I must first introduce to you, what the Alliances were. There were two groups. The Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The Triple Entente was a special agreement within three countries known as France, Russia, and Great Britain. The three countries agreed to help one another out of wars or fights if needed. The Triple Alliance was mutuality between another three nations. This league consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy. The Balkans were the “Powder Keg of Europe”. This is the Peninsula where the Great War started. How is this possible? Archduke Francis Ferdinand was a significant part of World War I. He was the heir to the throne in Austria-Hungary. He was assassinated in what is now well known as the “Powder Keg of Europe”.
Archduke Francis Ferdinand was riding in a carriage with his wife one day when a Serbian man, Gavrilo Princip, assassinated him. Austria was fast to declare war on the nation that killed their heir. However, Serbia was weak compared to Austria. They would not be able to hold out in a war by itself. Serbia soon called in Russia for help. Unfortunately for Russia, Germany was an ally of Austria-Hungary and they too, got involved. The Russian army moved in closer to the Germany border. This frightened Germany as they were not sure why Russia would consider coming so close to them. Germany soon declared war on Russia. Before long, Russia turned to one of its Allies, France, for help. France soon started to move in. Once more, Germany panicked. War was declared on France August third, 1914; the day after Germany declared war on Russia. Luckily, there were three countries in the Triple Entente. Great Britain was soon called in for help. Unfortunately, this meant Canada too because Canada was still part of the British colony. Germany was soon in one big fight that they could not handle. Germany soon turned to Italy for help. However, Italy believed that Germany was in the wrong for declaring war. Therefore, they soon joined the Triple Entente. Eventually, the Germans started sinking ships using submarines. This was known as the “Unrestricted Submarine Warfare.” Germany would sink ships without telling anyone. America instantly told Germany that they were sinking some American citizens and to stop. However, approximately a year or two later, another ship was sunk. Although it was not an American ship, there were many Americans on the ship. The ship was the Lusitania of Britain. Many Americans died that fateful day and America was not pleased. America was not involved other than selling munitions, but they too joined the Triple Entente. Unfortunately, the world was now in war.
Eventually, Russia, the country with the largest army, was starting to fall. The country never industrialized; therefore, Russia did not have the supplies it needed. Soon enough, the canals were covered with enemies and Russia could no longer move the supplies needed, to the front line. They started losing more men than before. Approximately, 5.5 million men were killed. Finally, Russia was losing so bad, the country had to withdraw. Russia soon gained a New Government with a communist leader named Lenin. Thankfully, one of the first moves that Lenin concluded was that Russia and Germany needed to sign a truce. The treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed and war was over between the two countries. Due to the fact that Russia removed itself out of the war, Germany was then able to move all soldiers to the Western Front. Victory was close for Germany. Almost too close. Germany’s army by now was greatly weakened. A Battle in Marne soon ensued. The remains of the Triple Entente realized the weakness in their enemies and fought as hard as they could. Germany was defeated in the end. Eventually, Germany lost too many men and too much technology to go any further in war. They too, had to remove themselves from the war they brought upon themselves. Casually, the president at the time, Woodrow Wilson, created The Fourteen Points. This was a list with fourteen points that indicated what guidelines the countries should follow. However, France and Britain did not
I would like to move to another past century. Any suggestions?
I'm sick and tired with this century, I really feel like I don't belong here. I've always liked 17th century France or maybe 18th century Italy, or even the 1st century of the Roman Empire, 11th Century China...so many choices...Where would you go?(just pretend it' s possible!)
Answer on I would like to move to another past century. Any suggestions?
I would be happy in this century---but somewhere living off the land-away from the pollution-taxes-cell phones and all the other BS we think we need to un-complicate life..Remember the show Grizzly Adams ? He was the man.
British Airways/Plane ticket question.?
Hello!
I would like to ask a question. Next year, myself and two friends are travelling to Italy and would like to travel with British Airways (we usually do but my Dad usually pays for it - I'll be 17) but we'd like to get the cheapest ticket possible. We'd like to fly from Heathrow (or London Airports) to Pisa (Italy) We'd also like to book as early as possible. Help please? :)
Answer on British Airways/Plane ticket question.?
When next year?
Fares come out about 300 days prior departure. Early booking does not mean cheapest... depending on time of year etc.
Best to wait till at least Nov / Dec to book your flights and see if there are any seat sales coming round.
British Airways may not be the cheapest... best for you to check out your local high street travel agencies for special fares, or go on line and check out the low cost carriers, ryanair , and easyjet. They will be cheaper than BA.
We have been together since early 2007 and have had a lot of fun together. We were both in graduate school together, in Holland and finished last spring. It was a crazy time, and we both had a lot of decisions to make - eventually my boyfriend decided to take a paid 3 month summer internship in Italy, and I decided to stay where i was, because I already started my job before graduating. My boyfriend was the one who started bringing up the idea of taking a break from the relationship while we figured out our future. I hated the idea, because it felt like breaking up! He assured me that he just wanted us to be able to make the best decisions for ourselves, not just each other and have some freedom.
I was convinced he wanted to use the time to be in Italy single to go after girls, but I didnt care about seeing other guys. For the first month I didnt really look at any guys, but then I started to again and it was fun! A couple weeks later I started talking to this super hot guy I always see in my gym and never talked to before. Long story short, I didnt make him wait very long.
It was the first time in my life I had a relationship that was based so simply on sex. It lasted about 7 weeks, till my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to end the break about a week after he came back. I feel guilty because I really enjoyed it so much, and I feel sorry for my boyfriend. He says he went on a few dates but didnt like the girls he met. I almost wish he had met someone too! The guy I was seeing was not even so interesting to talk to, but we made love so much more than I do with my BF, and he seemed so much more confident in that department. Is there any way I can get him to have the same kind of passion for me sexually, he is the one I love.
Do these characters have any antisemitic stereotypes?
You see, me and my friend are creating characters for our Creative Writing Class. We're rewriting classical stereotypical Jewish villains like Fagin, Shylock and Barabas but give them more humanity, sympathy and complexity. We both share a sympathetic fondness of villains. Here is my character;
Sampson was raised in some kind of strict denomination of Judaism that made him want to be more free and independent. Another reason is he didn't like the way his people were being so passive during slanders and labels, he wanted to fight back but he also didn't want to die or get labeled the same way as his people; he only cares for his own survival and his own selfish independence. He may practice his beliefs in private but has lost all faith in Jews gaining respect and tolerance; he enjoyed drinking, being a voyeur and reading Marquis de Sade. He met a runaway nun from a convent whom he fell passionately in love and shared some of his horniness. They both ran away to London but were treated unfairly by the locals and workers. So they both worked in the underworld and trained street urchins and unwanted kids as thieves and grafters. Sampson was neither greedy nor stingy but he was selfish, albeit considerate.
This is my friend's character;
His character is named Matthias, he lived in Italy in the late 16 century. He was forced to work as a moneylender even though he didn't like jewels or material wealth; but he was mostly fond of children, he even adopted some children from the streets and one born from a nun raped by the priest. He loved them all and would tell them stories and fables and teach them mathematics and alphabets. Til one fateful day, one of Matthias's clients wanted to get revenge on him for not helping him in his dirty work; he sent his servants to kill the children and stole his money and had him slandered and as a corrupter of children. Matthias wept with a broken heart when he saw his children's dead bodies but was banished from the city. He swore revenge and surprisingly meet some Mediterranean Pirates who asked him if there was any villages to sack, he told them that the city he came from was rich in gold and food. He broke away from his faith and officially made himself Pirate after the city was sacked. Matthias would be given his share of the loot but in reality he would put it away and dream of his children with a broken heart and would wake up with a hardened heart of despair.
you still live in a rose coloured fairy tale world.
How did the USA get a world ranking of 5?
This seems a ridiculous ranking to me given that they were clearly outclassed by 2nd ranked Czech Rep. 3-0
I don't think they are better than any of the top 20 teams.
1 Brazil
2 Czech Republic
3 Netherlands
4 Mexico
5 USA
Spain
7 Portugal
8 France
9 Argentina
10 England
11 Nigeria
Denmark
13 Italy
14 Turkey
15 Cameroon
16 Sweden
17 Egypt
18 Japan
19 Germany
20 Greece
How does the ranking system work? How are points allocated?
Shouldn't they use a better system?
Answer on How did the USA get a world ranking of 5?
It's way too complicated and long to explain it here (as is always the case with stupid systems of any kind). If you want to know more about FIFA rankings visit http://www.fifa.com/en/mens/statistics/rank/procedures/0,2540,3,00.html
I completely agree with you that the ranking is ridiculous. FIFA developed it in association with Coca Cola so it's not surprising :)
Round trip airplane tickets prices to Italy and Greece, or South Africa?
Hi, so I've got a summer assignment for the beginning of my freshman year at my high school.
So, I have to take a virtual trip to either on vacation:
A. Italy AND Greece
B. South Africa
While there, I have $4000 American dollars to spend. I'll be staying for one week and I'll have to write a one-page journal for each day there.
So, I actually have two questions,
How much would the round trip be from:
A. Miami to Italy THEN Greece?
B. Miami to South Africa?
Which would be a better place to visit for one week (based on attractions and things to do)?
Any help appreciated,
~cupcakez_ninja
What you might want to do is research both destinations and then decide. Good sources of information from the viewpoint of a tourist/visitor include these:
Lonely Planet: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/
Rick Steves: http://www.ricksteves.com/ (travel to Europe)
Fodor's (look it up--Yahoo! will take only 10 links)
Frommer's: (look it up--Yahoo! will take only 10 links)
Let's Go: http://www.letsgo.com/ (travel to Europe)
You can also research air fares on line. The fare will vary, depending on a number of things (such as how far ahead you pay for your ticket, the time of day, the day of the week, and so on). Since you haven't decided on an airline, probably these will be the best sources of information:
Smarter Travel: http://www.smartertravel.com/airfare/gui…
Expedia: http://www.expedia.com/daily/home/?semci…
Travelocity: http://www.travelocity.com/
The above sites can also help you book hotel accommodations, although you are young enough to benefit from hostels:
http://www.hostelworld.com/
http://www.hostels.com/
You'd also need a passport, which you can get through an office at your local US Post Office or the Clerk of Court in your county. You'll need a credit card and an ATM card. You'll need a currency converter so you can figure out how much things cost (http://www.xe.com/ucc/ or look up "x-rates.com"--Yahoo! will take only 10 links). Read up on taking your cell phone abroad (http://www.ehow.com/how_2111795_use-cell… ).
Once you have done your preliminary research and have developed a list of questions, call a local travel agent, explain your assignment, state that you have done the preliminary research, and ask for an appointment to discuss your research and what more you might need to do. Most travel agents have some slack time right now and would be glad to help in an educational project involving travel (you might have to call more than one to get an appointment, though).
This assignment can be really fun and get you involved in international travel. You may decide that you want to go to all three destinations! If it were I, I'd want to spend at least a week in Italy, add Turkey to the visit to Greece, and perhaps visit Botswana along with South Africa.
How much do you think it would cost to go to italy?
my boyfriend is being deployed to iraq early next year. he will be gone for 12 months and when he gets back, i want to surprise him with a trip to italy. i was thinking rome, venice, and florence for about 2 weeks (maybe longer if there's a lot we wanna do/see). i know airfare is gonna be insane no matter what (probably between $2,000 and $2,500), but airfare aside, once we got to italy how much do you think it would cost to do that? i figure i've got about 2 years to save up for it. thanks for your help and any suggestions!
Answer on How much do you think it would cost to go to italy?
it depends by the periods...
and where do u live!!
the flight from NYC cost somethin' like 600€ with alitalia (942$)
and calculate the return 1884$, 4 two person=3760$
then u have to calculate the hotels (medium 3 stars in city center of rome 120/240€ (188/376$) a night 4 a double room. 4 two weeks (13 nights) it makes 2444/4888$.
i suggest u to move between rome florence and venice by train (it cost less and trains are quick) and it will cost u rome-to-florence-to-venice-to-rome 4 two person
cost 392/450$ + food for two a day 40/80€ (62/125$) for 12 days 744/1500$.
museums and actractives 80€/125$
flights=3760$
hotels=2444/4888$
others=1261/2075$
total=7465/10723$
P.S.
I'm italian, from rome.
I just want you to know that I'll never forget the amazing times we had in Italy. I know I promised that I wouldn't think about you, but sometimes I can't help it and i have to stop myself. All the same, thankyou for everything. I'll never forget you brutto stronzo. hahahaha
Good luck in life you heartbreaker!
I hope to see you again one day! real soon!
Answer on Can someone translate this letter for me into ITALIAN?
Va bene Calogero,adesso smettero di darti fastidio. Spero che tu riesca a trovare tutte le belle ragazze che volevi incontrare a Jensen Beach ! Voglio solo che tu sappia che non dimentichero mai i meravigliosi momenti da noi vissuti in Italia. So di averti promesso che non ti avrei piu pensato ma qualche volta non riesco a farne a meno e devo trattenermi.
In ogni modo grazie di tutto. Non ti dimentichero mai, brutto stronzo. ahaah
Buona fortuna per la vita, dannato rubacuori ( *not literal...!!).
Spero di vederti di nuovo un giorno! davvero presto !!
con affetto
Amanda
* heartbreaker would be literally spaccacuori but this word is not existing in Italian. We have instead "rubacuori" .
BTW also the previous translation by an Italian native has further mistakes. I'm not here to correct them but his translation, even if better than others, is not right.
