Hey there.
I go to Hawaii quite often, i actually just got back last week (although i'm from Canada) however check kayak.com for airfare, as well you might want to check Hawaiian Air. From Canada West Jet is always the best!
Not sure what your interested in seeing or doing, however i can probably answer most questions you might have so feel free to ask.
As for inexpensive hotel rates, you can look on Kayak.com as well, but you can find some good deals on hawaii-connections.com , or try VRBO (vacation rentals by owners. I went for a month and paid what most people will pay for 10 days. I have stayed a several different hotels, and would say you will get a better deal at hotels that aren't directly on the beach front. However in some cases you can still get an ocean view from a block away. With the econmy the way it is, you should get the actual hotels website too - they might be offering better deals for going to the actual hotel site.
There is tons to do away from Waikiki beach. Diamond Head walk, Haunauma Bay (closed one day a week for cleaning by the state), Lanakai Beach, Pearl Harbour Memorial, Polynesian Cultural Centre, North Shore, Dole Plantation, The stadium Market(Wed, Sat & Sun), Dog the bounty hunter, etc..
Walking distance in Waikiki is the obvious, tons of shops, and restaurants, beach, surfing rentals. There is also Ala Moana Mall, The Zoo, The Aquarium, The Military Museum and of course the famous Central Market - Tip: shop around..and try to barter with the stand and vendors.. you'll get a better price.
Sometime they show movies on the beach down by where the zoo is. The will post a sign of what is playing
Any adivce would be .. don't take anything too valuable to the beach unless someone is there to watch your stuff. There are homeless people down on the beach and they blend in with thier shorts and t shirts. Be wary of "casanova" guys that you meet on the beach. Most are con artists that will tell you stories to get you to pay for things, and basically rip you off or they are looking for girls to be prositues... yes it does happen. I'm not a big drinker, so i don't really frequent the bars there.. but be careful of the same in the beach bars as on the beach.
Good restaurants - California Pizza Kitchen - good selection, fair prices, and good tasting food. Cheese Cake Cafe - pretty good too. Everyone has to experience - Cheeseburger in Paradise at least once. Tip: Most people go to eat between 5-7 and everything is packed. Either eat before that or after and you won't end up waiting in a long line. Zippy's is a economical place that has decent food, however they are not directly in waikiki beach. L&L is local and pretty good too. McDonalds is basically the same.. however with the meal deals you get a small container of pinapple too.
Gotta experience: Hagen Daas: Pinapple-Coconut ice cream, Leonards Bakery - Malasadas. Fresh pinapple, Luau.

How do I find out if She is my child?
My sort of ex-girlfriend contacted me, after having disappeared for 8 months, saying that she was pregnant. She is from Lithuania and currently living in Italy and had the baby in November. I am desperate to know if this child is mine, as I have nothing else in my life that I truly value. Can anyone tell me if there is some way for me to find out the truth, as the ex just won't say, but just keeps dangling this beautiful little girl in front of me from afar.

Do Italians girls approach guys. I went to Italy and had no luck with meeting a nice Italian girl. I loved the time in Italy that I spent, but had a hard time meeting people. Move to Barcelona, Spain?
I live in Canada right now, i don't speak much Spanish or anything, but i would just REALLY love to live in Europe and start a new life. some other options for Europe are :

Monaco
Florence,

Positano Italy.

Your about to find out that it's almost impossible for a Canadian citizen to migrate to anywhere in the EC. Unless you have exceptional skills and experience in an area that is in demand then, to be honest, you have no chance of obtaining the essential work permits and residence permits.

Given the desperate financial situation in Europe it would not be a smart move even if you could get permission.

What do you think of the right-wing Italian prime minister who took away money from Public schools....?
.... and increased the funds of Private schools and universities? This new reform also restores one unique teacher in the elementary schools and imposes elementary school students to wear uniforms. This changes things as Italians knew them before, when there were different teachers for different subjects and wearing a uniform was not mandatory.
The main concern of these protesters is the fact that it will increase the difference between public schools, where only poor people will go to the public schools and public schools teachers' wages will be lower, and private schools, which will create an elite group of students on the basis of their personal richness. Italy does not have a student loan program funded by the government as the United States does.
Proponents of this reform believe that this reform is right because it is something that comes from good sense and it will improve the quality of the schools.
800.000 Italians went out to protest in Rome last week. You can see what they did on here. You don't really need to listen to what they say, but just see how they protested. 800.000 people are almost 1/50 of the total Italian population that went to protest.

I'm desprate and need help?
I'm in a drama-like situation. Please help me...
5 years ago I had a boyfriend. Back then I was 19 he was 20 . He was half italian from his mother's side and his mother lived in Italy. He decided to go to italy in order to study architecture and come back. We had been together since when I was 17. So he left for Italy and told me to wait for him while I went to college... everything went well first... We would text/call /e-mail each other daily ....and he said he would be back for the summer.After like 6 months or so he wouldn't return my calls or answer my e-mails even once a week.... I would hear from him less often as time passed until he didn't call me at all...first I thought he was busy and I still tried to reach him but then after 20 unanswered calls, I just felt stupid and didn't contact him at all. I sometimes would see his other friends but they said they hadn't heard from him in ages... He never came back that summer either or if he did I never got to see him. I gave up on him and thought he had forgotten me and tried to move on..... after like 3 years one of our mutual friends asked me out and I accepted (I shouldn't have but I wanted to take some revenge ) but I hoped he would come back so I didn't take it very seriously ...5 years have passed by already. So last week I was shopping and I ran into him...first I couldn't believe it was him but when he said hi to me I realized it ....he acted all casually and friendly like there had never been anything between us. He asked me about college and work and stuff and invited me for dinner sometime next week so he could catch up with his "old friends" (he said he would give me a call) that was it! I was shocked...I mean I didn't expect much but he was so friendly I wanted to slap him!
Now I come home and my boyfriend tells me he has called and invited him and his girlfriend -which would be me- over for dinner... a small get together for friends.... I seriously don't know whether I should go or not and how I should act and everything. Cuz my current boyfriend is a mutual friend ... and besides I don't know whether he knows I have been dating his friend!!! I am confused plz help meeee....

Need help searching for online Latin III course!?
my school doesn't offer latin 3, but I NEED to take it next year...
i'm looking for an online latin course, preferably at a college or university. (needs to be latin 3 or more advanced latin course)

Cheap hostels in a good location in Milan. PLEASE Help!?

My boyfriend and I are going to a few cities in Italy and really are stuck for where to stay in each. I've been searching all day and I can't seem to find a clean and safe hostel in a good location for our budget. I've been told, it's easy to find cheap deals as low as €15/per person but that's not happening. Any advice on where to stay? Also any ideas on whether it's more worth it to go for a hostel or an apartment for a week long stay? Is there room to bargain once there for the best price since it's low season?

15 euro per person is prety low. If you're trying to spend time in Milan in January, it's the winter sales season and you might not find so many choices.

Associate European countries with the year totalitarian leaders took control of them...?
I've been trying to find some answers, but different sources give me different answers. So, I'd appreciate your input. Also, the directions are not very clear, but I'm pretty sure two of the countries I will list did not have fascist governments, which is the main thing I'm looking for. Also, keep in mind that the time is 1939:
Poland
Hungary
Italy
Germany
Spain
Yugoslavia

The Arrow Cross party (Hungarian Nazis) arose in the 1930's and were at first weak and harassed, as Hungary preferred Britain as a friend. After the Anschluss (nazi takover and unification of Austria to Germany), the Hungarian government switched to support the Nazis, and in 1939 was a full ally to Nazi Germany, with its own Nazi government. After the war, it also got a communist government imposed on them, in 1947, which lasted until 1989.

Spain was totalitarian with the end of its Civil War, in 1939. This lasted until 1975, with the death of Franco.

German or Italian???!!!!!!?
Okay so I'm 14 years old and I know how to speak English, Arabic, Indonesian, and I'm learning French since 1st grade, and now I'm thinking to learn a new language and I love euorope and one of the countries that I most wanna visit is Germany and Italy and I love those two countries so I wanna learn one of the languages! So which one do u think I should learn German or Italian??!! o__O

Need some advice, is she screwing with me?
Ok so I have a friend, we keep in touch almost everyday. We went to High School together, now I study Psychology and she's in an Art academy.
The problem is that I can't figure her out and that bothers me. We were very close in High School and I think that we still are, but she did some things that still bug me quite a lot: she copied my handwriting! She still writes in my handwriting! When I look at her notes or at the birthday cards she gives me, it annoys me because it looks like I've written that stuff!
A few years ago I wanted to learn Polish (I had been studying it ever since I was a kid, even though I forgot most of it now) and she started studying it too. When I stopped she stopped too.
A few years ago I used to buy a magazine every week. After a while she started buying it as well.
A few years ago, I was obsessed with a sit com on the tv, I wouldn't miss an episode for the world. She became obsessed with it too right after I did. When I overcame my obsession, she overcame it too.
I became obsessed with losing weight and keeping fit, so I started working out. and she started using her exercise bicycle, to no avail btw.
I love Medicine and Anatomy. She started an artistic anatomy course and she started bragging to me about it.

As soon as I started studying it on my own, I started getting the best grades in the class. She tried raising her English grades right after mine went through the roof, to not much avail though.
Now we are planning a trip to America (some of her relatives live there). We started getting in touch with them ("we" as I was the interpreter). Now she started studying English on her own, but the fact is that she is bragging to me about it (she is using the methods I used and she keeps slapping them on my face). Do you think she is screwing with me? I'm trying to ignore all that as the last time I told her how I felt, she turned it all against me and made things worse, she used the things I told her to make me feel worse.
I know this is all so childish, and that's why I want to put an end to this. I want to know if I can trust this girl as I thought she was a good friend, but after writing all this stuff down I'm realizing that maybe she's not.

I think she has some kind of problem. If it really bothers you that much than you should stop hanging out with her so much. I mean your planning a trip to America with her. Don't go if it bothers you. I really have no idea why she does what she does. She might really like you/admire you but she doesn't want to admit it so when you tell her what she does, she refuses to see what your saying, she doesn't want to hear the truth. Or she could be lesbian. Or like I said before she may have some weird mental problem. If you want to you could learn to ignore/embrace it or just stop talking to her/being her friend. Your choice. But I really think she acts the way she does because she admires you a lot for some reason. You know her, I don't. You think about it and pick what you think the reason is. Things to do in Calabria?
I've always been interested in going there. I'm going to Italy this summer with my family and we've been debating about where to go/what to do. I recently read about Calabria and it looks so gorgeous, especially places like Tropea and Stilo. I was wondering if anybody can tell me anything about this region -- what are some nice places to stay/visit? Thanks for your help!

When I was in Calabria, a great place to go in the summer is Soverato. It is a beautiful, beach and tourist area.
I went there once in the summer and it was packed. However, we were there last April and it was very, very hot. Beach weather (25-30 Celsius), but Italians don't tend to go to the beach until around June. We had the entire, beautiful beach to ourself as if it was our own private beach. It was beautiful..

Is my friend lying to me?
its still about the same boy (quike recap) ( decameber2008 we went out for 2 weeks he dumped me for a really pethatic reson that he wasnt over his ex, in may 09 we went out and kissed then we got in a little group and we stared plain 21 dares me and him always used 2 get dared to kiss he said thingz 2 me he likes me but his scared im gonna tell people etc.... that happen till december 09 in december 09 he said 2 me i really like u and i want 2 be with u but im goin on holidays and will be bak in january when i get back i will get with you, he went to italy and we spoke on msn he said he misses me loves me he relised that im the best thing in his life.... his come back and now its all gone away before he left he always lied to our mates e.g on the last day before he went he walked me up to my house and we kissed he went back and said he walked me half way and he just went off and didnt do nothing, the his cousin said that jay said i make him sik and when i asked he said no then when im not out he says he will never kiss me again but then the next day he does.) and he says to our mate yesturday i really like her but i have resons and i dont want to be with her... but then i kept pushing him away and he grabed me and huged me and wouldnt let me go no matter what i did and tried kissing me but i moved.....then my friend ana said ok lets get him back ( she gets with him and uses him but i think she just wants to be with him because she is really intresed in what me and him do when she isnt there and i said 2 her no and she insested just 2 weeks and today i said go on cam when jay comes to yours with his mates and she said no cuz mabey we will kiss !! :@

Best way to plan trip to Italy?
I want to plan a trip to Italy next year and I know the places I want to go, things I want to do, but I don't know how to book it. I've never flown in a plane or even been overseas and this is my dream trip. Do I go through a travel agent or does that cost more money? If so, is it worth id? Would an escorted trip with a group of strangers be cheaper? What would be the best way to plan this and get most for my money? Any tips welcome! Thanks!

first of all i suggest you go to a good travel agency to recomend ypou a tour, if you dont want to see something particular..There are peoiple who prefere doing a tour and see some of Italy, i mean small things from each city, others dedicate a whole week visiting a city with details, it depends on what you want..

Train to venice... hotel in venice?
Will be in Italy (rome) and planning on extending the trip for a few days into Venice. Can someone give me information regarding a traing from Rome to Venice? Time? price? what train to use?
Also planning on staying in venice fro two days. Any hotels anyone can suggest? Bare in mind im not looking for a 5 star hotel nor a hole in the wall place or hostel. Something in between, clean, near the city or in the city, near trasportation, etc, any suggestions. Looking to spend a bit over $100 a night. Thanks.

If you buy the ticket in advance, you can get the discounted mini fare for as low as 52 euro. The other option is the night train that leaves the Roma Tiburtina station at 10:36 pm and arrives in Venice at 5:26 the next morning. The cost for a berth in a 4 bed compartment is 60.90 euro. You can sleep through the night and maximize your time in Venice. You also do not need a hotel for the night you travel.
I use this site for hotels here in Italy. Venice is one of the most expensive places in Italy. Prices depend a lot on exactly when you're here. The 4 star places where I stay (Monaco & Grand Canal, Selvadego, All'Angelo) range from 100 to 130 euro per night next weekend, but this is the lowest price period of the year. Any of these would be good choices - they all all very close to Piazza San Marco. Places in the area near the train station are generally a little less expensive and there are the vaporettos down the Grand Canal or you can walk to Piazza San Marco. Venice is pretty compact and walkable. The Lido island is also less expensive, but you have to take a boat to get to the main part of the city. You might look at someplace like the Al Tramonto Dorato B & B which is about 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco on foot.
